The Somersett Owners Association (SOA) Board of Directors (BOD) will be holding an open Board meeting on Thursday, January 14th at 9:00 AM in the Canyon View Room at The Club at Town Center. This special meeting was called specifically to address the following time constraint items:

  • Review and Approval of Requested Sierra Canyon Sub-Association Agreements.
  • Review and Approval of Canyon Nine Maintenance Contract.
  • Review and Approval of Common Area Landscape Services Contracts.
  • Somersett Golf & Country Club Boundary Line Adjustment

As in all open BOD meetings, homeowners will have the opportunity to ask questions or provide comments on agenda topics or any other non-related items.

It is not fair to owners that such important items as those above are not made available for them to view before the meeting so they can make intelligent comments on them at the meeting and before any final actions are taken!

Owners are sick of all the behind the scenes work this Board constantly does. NRS tells what boards can do out-of-sight from owners in executive sessions and none of the above is allowed. All of the above are for open board sessions or committee meetings at which owners may attend and make comments.

Too many things are “done deals” before formal meetings are called and at which discussion is little to none and votes most always unanimous.

The first thing this Board should do is have monthly open sessions. There is too much going on for only every other month sessions.

    Owners are not sixth graders!

They are putting a forum in on the new MySomersett web site – where you will be able make comments/suggestions.

If you wish to contribute on the so called “closed door deals” you should attend the monthly committee meetings for Finance and Strategic Planning.

Granted, the Bi-monthly board meeting does not allow for proper discussion, the committee meetings is the best place

There is no such thing as “time constraint” agreements and contracts. All can be extended on a month-to-month basis with any new dollar amounts made retroactive to the ending date of the previous agreement or contract.

Common Area Landscape Contracts, plural. Wow, finally dividing the common areas up for better attention.

I’ve read that the PUD says: “All common areas, including pedestrian easements, streetscapes, open space, parks, “commons,” and trails will be maintained by the Somersett Owners Association.” This means Sierra Canyon does not need to have its own contractor for its common area landscaping or pay for maintenance of the portions of the Somersett Trail System within its borders.
